The Iron Claw is expected to make its theatrical debut in 2023.
In recent weeks, some photos leaked from the set of The Iron Claw, in which the actor Zac Efron was immortalized in the - unrecognizable - role of former wrestler Kevin Von Erich had been around the web. The star, in agreement with the producer of the film, the A24, then shared - in these hours - the first official photo of the film, highlighting his extraordinary physical transformation of him.
The Iron Claw - plot and cast of the film about the Von Erich family
The Iron Claw will tell the story of the extraordinary and tormented Von Erich family, a dynasty of professional wrestlers whose history has been repeatedly touched by tragedy. Zac Efron will play Kevin, the only survivor of his generation, as the five brothers died, whether due to accidents, health problems, or after committing suicide.
In the cast, alongside Efron, there will then be Jeremy Allen White (Kerry Von Erich) - who recently appeared in the Fox series The Bear -, Harris Dickinson (David Von Erich), Holt McCallany, and Maura Tierney - interpreters of the parents of the Von Erich brothers, Fritz and Doris. In a still unknown role - although many speculate that he will play Kevin's wife, Pam Adkisson, - Lily James will also appear.
The film, expected in 2023, is directed by Sean Durkin and will most likely tell the story of the rise and fall of the Von Erich dynasty from Kevin's point of view. And it was Kevin Von Erich who first praised Zac Efron's extraordinary work to shape his physical appearance and assume the imposing "stature" of the former wrestler:
"It will be hard work, I think. There is a lot of information and a lot of time to cover, they have a lot of work to go through. But I saw a picture of the protagonist and it was great. I don't think I've ever been this fit. I think they will do a great job. I talked to director Sean Dukin, and he seemed like a really great person ”. With the blessing of the "real" Kevin, the actor is therefore ready to conquer the audience as well.
